Abstract

La caracterización de la actividad eléctrica atmosférica en países tropicales es una tarea de indiscutible
importancia para el apropiado diseño de sistemas de protección. La actividad de rayos en estas regiones
del planeta presenta características diferenciadas a las de otras latitudes. En el trabajo se realiza un
análisis detallado de la distribución temporal de la ocurrencia de las tormentas eléctricas en la Isla de
Cuba a diferentes escalas. Se emiten las consideraciones finales sobre como varían en el tiempo, en el
territorio nacional, los días tormentas considerando las marcha diaria, mensual y anual en diferente
escalas espaciales.

The characterization of the atmospheric electric activity in tropical countries is an unquestionable
importance task for the suitable design of the protection systems. The lightning activity in such regions of
the planet presents different characteristics in relation to other latitudes. In this paper carries out a detailed
analyses of the temporal distribution of the electrical storms occurrence to different local scales. Final
considerations about the behavior of the day storms in the time of the national territory take account diary,
monthly y annual variations in diferents scale spatiales are reported.
