Abstract

The objective of this work is to propose the design of applications, through a graphical interface, based on the free software Scilab, which allow the analysis of harmonics in industrial electrical systems. To verify its usefulness, the industrial system of Sonangol - Namibe is taken as a case study. The results are the development of five applications, which allow, from the improvement of the power factor, to design three proposals for passive filters, for their subsequent analysis in the industrial system. It is proposed to be able to analyze the effect of non-linear loads connected to the network and their mitigation, thus avoiding problems of overvoltage’s and overcurrent’s, which affect, for example, the solid insulation of cables and coils of electrical machines, for what is considered of great practical use for industrial engineers. This type of software is generally licensed privately, with a high acquisition cost, so that its peers, in free license, allows a greater reach among students and specialists for purposes.
