Abstract

This paper presents the methodological development to coordinate the insulation of medium-voltage electrical networks; the study was carried out applying calculation procedures, in which the different factors involved in defining and dimensioning the appropriate insulation level for the equipment making up a primary electrical network are evaluated. In order to carry out insulation coordination, it is necessary to know and determine the operating parameters of the system under analysis and to determine its components, in order to then define the electrical characteristics that the lightning conductor (lightning conductor) must have and, based on the provisions of IEC 60071-1 and IEC 60071-2 standards, to determine the types and levels of overvoltages that could occur in the network, considering the different coordination factors, safety and height correction, in order to cover the defects that may occur in the insulation due to the real operating conditions and thus select an adequate insulation level.
