Abstract

Ecuador's energy matrix is undergoing changes in its structure with a projection based on distributed generation with renewable enegy sources, from the potential of the territory's. The Guillen´s Ravine, in the municipality of Portoviejo at in the province of Manabí, is a territory with irregular terrain and the electrical grids are close to rivers. This situation causes interruptions to the electrical service in the winter, due to breakdowns that affect the territory. The objective of the research is to analyze alternatives to improve the quality of the electric service and, in some cases, to offer energy stability through the introduction of microgrids in a way as isolated systems. The geographic information system and the software CYME 9.2 were used for the modeling and analysis of microgrids. As a result by simulation of photovoltaic systems we obtained that these systems can be incorporated in a distributed generation mode to improve the quality of electricity service to this territory.
