Abstract

In this work, the conception and equations with which a Microsoft Excel workbook was created for the evaluation of the main thermal scheme of block number 3 of the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna thermal power plant are presented. The equations that solve the mass and energy balances in the block are programmed in the workbook, with these results several indicators of energy efficiency are calculated such as specific fuel consumption, the effective performance of the installation, the thermal efficiency of the steam cycle, and the thermal efficiency of the steam generator. For the evaluation of the thermodynamic properties of water, the Excel complement WinSteam was used. The calculations were made and verified with data corresponding to the design conditions supplied by the manufacturers.
