Polígono de evaluación de sistemas fotovoltaicos
Polygone of evaluation of photovoltaic systems
Abstract
The growing energy demand and the need to mitigate climate change require the rigorous evaluation of photovoltaic systems under local conditions. This paper presents the design, implementation, and preliminary results of an evaluation polygone at the University of Havana, Cuba. This infrastructure integrates six experimental sets, two measurement sets, and five standardized tests to characterize components under the Cuban tropical climate. The preliminary results demonstrated the site's effectiveness in diagnosing failures in different contexts, ranging from power losses (up to 90%) due to corrosion to manufacturing defects and transportation damage in newly acquired modules. This performance led to the conclusion that the site is not only a research platform but also a technological policy tool that contributes to the sustainable energy transition in Cuba, providing reliable data for decision-making and regulatory improvement.Downloads
