Abstract

This article presents a general overview of the voltage stability problem in electric power systems. It begins with a review of fundamental methods for real-time analysis, discussing the advantages and disadvantages of each. Next, it describes a method for calculating a voltage stability index in real time using artificial intelligence, specifically fuzzy logic. As a case study, the system of rules for its implementation in the western region of the Cuban electrical system is presented. The index was calculated for the three regions of the country: western, central, and eastern. The results obtained from calculating the proposed index in the Cuban system under the same continuous flow conditions are also shown, and the results obtained by both methods are compared.
