Abstract

The objective of the article is the diagnosis of lubrication and lubricants management for fuel oil power plants at the West of Havana. It was based on the tool of the Center for Maintenance Engineering Studies to assess the status of such management, and was modified by consensus of experts. The tool made it possible to identify deficiencies in lubrication management and to develop strategies that contribute to increase the physical assets availability, as well as reducing the consumption of energy, lubricants and spare parts. This allows to obtain significant savings in the organization and reducing the negative impact on the environment. A group  of deficiencies were identified, among which stand out for their negative impact, the lack of training in lubrication management    issues,    and    inadequate    storage     of     new     oils     and     used     oil     management.
