Abstract

Nowadays, it is of utmost importance the construction and operation of generation, transmission, and distribution systems of electric energy in the most optimal and economical way possible. The present work deals with the problem of unit commitment, applied to an isolated electric microgrid to satisfy the estimated demand of the consumers with the use of artificial intelligence techniques. An adaptability model is proposed with the use of genetic algorithms tools, which is implemented with the help of the programming structures offered by MATLAB in its 2014th version (license 41048478), in its Global Optimization Toolbox. The effectiveness of the proposed model was validated in an application in the isolated electric system of the tourist pole of Cayo Coco-Cayo Guillermo, Ciego de Avila province, Cuba, for the unit commitment in an environment formed by several sources of electricity generation.
